Rick Wilkes, CMT, NTMB, EFT-ADV is an accomplished Emotional Freedom Technique Coach and horse enthusiast who excels in helping people find the best in themselves.  While he doesn't limit his practice to equestrians, he's found that many are attracted to working with him.

EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique, is a technique that has been developed and promoted in large by Gary Craig.  It allows the individual using it to overcome many kinds of emotional and physical ailments.   Physical issues are almost always caused by an emotional issue, so the best way to begin real healing is to first address the emotional issue.

Equestrians face an array of issues.  Many of us have fear issues, stemming from either some unresolved emotional issue, or an injury, either our own or somebody else's.  These may - or may not - be from riding, other accidents or outside health issues.  Fear is not just for the beginner; many advanced riders deal with fear issues, and it can greatly affect our performance.   If we compete, we really have to conquer those mental monsters, not only in the show ring, but also in our training.  EFT gives us a tool we can use on ourselves to put us psychologically in the best possible frame for learning, and is an invaluable support tool in the show ring, on the trail, or wherever and however else we use our horses.
